Gen 3: Troubleshooting ERR0

What is ERR0?

ERR0 is displayed when the controller detects that the float switch did not drop during the previous mist cycle.

  • Either the solution level in the batch tank did not drop enough for the float to drop, or
  • The solution level dropped, but there is a problem with the float or signal from the float switch

Most Common Cause:  float is stuck in up position due to buildup of residue on post that hinders the movement of the float.

Other Potential Causes:

  • Nozzle circuit is too small (less than 10 nozzles) and/or mist duration is too short for the level in the batch tank to drop enough to cause a change in the float’s position.
  • Pump is not pumping solution out of the batch tank due to 1) poor connection of intake line, 2) auto drain valve no longer attached to bypass line in batch tank, 3) intake filter completely clogged, 4) pump failure, 5) motor failure
  • Agitation Valve does not open during the mist cycle because 1) it is stuck in the closed position due to swollen plunger, 2) there is inadequate voltage to open the valve.

 

Troubleshooting Steps:

1.  Attempt to reproduce ERR0:

  • Clear error – press Red MENU/Stop button for 5 seconds.
  • Run Manual Mist – press the Up and Down arrow simultaneously and hold for 2 secs.
  • Observe mist duration and allow mist cycle to complete
  • If ERR0 results, proceed with next steps.  Otherwise, run more Manual Mists to ensure system is working properly.

2.  Ensure MIST volume is large enough to drop solution level in batch tank during mist cycle.

  • If nozzle circuit is small (fewer than 10 nozzles) the duration of the mist cycle should be at least 60 seconds.
  • Otherwise, mist duration should be at least 30 seconds.
  • If setting changes are required, make the changes then run another set of Manual Mists to confirm system is working properly.  If not, proceed with next steps.

3.  Confirm system is misting during MIST cycle.

  • Run Manual Mist and observe the following:
  • Listen for the motor to start and run.  If no motor sound, problem is motor or power to it.  Further diagnostics required.
  • Listen for agitation valve to click, observe pressure gauge and observe misting:
  • If agitation valve clicks, pressure is 240 psi and nozzles are misting, problem is caused by float switch.  Proceed to Step 4.
  • If no agitation valve click and pressure is less than 50 psi with no mist, problem is with agitation valve or power to it.  Further diagnostics required.
  • If agitation valve clicks and pressure is less than 50 psi with no mist, problem is with pump or auto drain valve.  Ensure auto drain valve is attached to bypass tube in take, intake filter is clean and pump intake is securely connected to pump.  If problem persists after confirming connections, the pump has probably failed and will require replacement.  See Gen 3:  Replace Pump

4.  Execute Float Switch Diagnostic:

  • See Gen 3:  Run Float Switch Diagnostic
  • If display properly reflect float position, it is likely that the float is sticking to residue on the post and must be cleaned.
  • If display does not reflect float position, ensure secure connection to wiring harness and repeat diagnostic.  If displays still do not reflect position, it is likely that float has failed and requires replacement.  See Gen 3:  Clean or Replace Float Switch
